Mark L. Williams is a highly skilled trial attorney with a strong track record of delivering exceptional outcomes for his clients. He brings a wealth of experience, having served as a Senior Trial Attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and as a federal prosecutor with the Department of Justice. Mr. Williams represents both individuals and companies in a wide range of legal matters, including government investigations, enforcement actions, criminal prosecutions, administrative proceedings, grand jury investigations, internal investigations, and complex civil litigation.

From the Southern District of New York to the Central District of California, Mr. Williams has tried over 50 cases to verdict and led numerous complex civil and criminal investigations. His cases included high-profile matters involving securities fraud, Ponzi schemes, wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion. Additionally, his extensive background in the SEC’s Market Abuse Unit has equipped him with deep expertise in insider trading, cherry-picking, and other forms of alleged market manipulation.

Mr. Williams is known for his strategic and efficient approach to handling complex investigations and commercial litigation. He excels at preventing enforcement actions or criminal charges from being filed, securing favorable settlements, and delivering strong defenses through trial. His 15+ years of experience with federal agencies give him unique insight into how government investigations unfold, allowing him to guide clients through complex proceedings. By identifying the strengths and weaknesses in each case and effectively communicating litigation risks, he consistently secures the best possible outcomes for his clients. His preparedness for trial and unmatched skill in litigation strategy and courtroom advocacy often shift the negotiating dynamics to his client’s advantage.

Throughout his career, Mr. Williams has been recognized for his exceptional contributions. He has received numerous accolades, including the Ferdinand Pecora Award and Directors’ Awards while at the SEC, the Executive Office for United States Attorneys Director’s Award, and multiple Outstanding Attorney awards during his time at the Department of Justice. He joined the Department of Justice through the prestigious Attorney General’s Honors Program.

Mr. Williams holds degrees from Georgetown Law School and Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, as well as a Securities and Financial Regulation Certificate from both Georgetown Law and the SEC University. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver College of Law, where he teaches courses on the prosecution and defense of white-collar crime.

In his spare time, Mr. Williams enjoys coaching his childrens' sports teams and traveling with his family.
